After a little over a year of dealing with his spinal injury, Chris Canales went with his dad Eddie to watch the 3A State Championship Football Game in San Antonio's Alamodome. There, they witnessed the tragedy of another young man, Corey Fulbright, sustaining a catastrophic spinal cord injury of his own. As Corey was on the turf motionless, Chris turned to Eddie and said, "We have to go help that family. I know what Corey is going to go through, and you know what the family will have to face."
